DreamWorks Scheduled to Release New Rocky & Bullwinkle Short Film Next Year
A short film starring Rocky & Bullwinkle, the 60’s classic cartoons, has been announced by DreamWorks Animation. Rocky & Bullwinkle is without a doubt, one of the most prolific made-for-TV cartoons ever made; they’ve lasted the longest in syndication.
Currently in production, the new short is set for release next year. Current states indicate that everything is order. The short will be attached to a new DreamWorks creation called Mr. Peabody & Sherman by March 7, next year. According to a DreamWorks studio statement, the remake starring Rocky & Bullwinkle will be a madcap adventure that will bring forth cast members from the past; Rocky, Bullwinkle and Natasha. Boris and a set of other familiar faces you’re accustomed to, will grace the new release too.
Gary Trousdale, will grace the new flick in the producer’s seat. Gary is a renowned producer who co-produced the infamous Beauty and the Beast from Disney. He will bring forth a wealth of experience to make the new short electric.
Rocky & Bullwinkle will feature the squirrel (a flying squirrel) whose voice will come from June Foray, who just turned 96 this year. Most people remember that Foray was originally cast as Rocket “Rocky” J. Squirrel back in ’59, when the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show aired on the ABC and NBC television networks. Tom Kenny will be the moose (a dim-witted but overall good-natured moose and a friend of Rocky the squirrel) in new Rocky & Bullwinkle short set for release next year.
It’s important to note that the original Rocky & Bullwinkle show had DreamWorks’ current focus; Mr. Peabody & Sherman, as a supporting feature- back then, it was known as the “Peabody’s Improbable History”. Based on the reviews Rocky & Bullwinkle receives as a feature of Mr. Peabody & Sherman, you can expect to see more of, and or less of it in the future. Nevertheless, what you can do right now is wait for the release, which comes out next year. In the meantime, you can catch the legendary Rocky and Bullwinkle Opening Theme on YouTube.
